home about schedule symposium officers

Who are we, and what do we do?

We are a collection of graduate students at UC Berkeley that share a common interest in microbiology. We meet once a month and hold an annual symposium to celebrate microbiology graduate research. Our doors are open to anyone with an interest in microbiology. To join our mailing list, go here.

Our goals

1) Enhance the educational experience of students studying microbiology at UC Berkeley.
2) Promote the field of microbiology on campus.

We will accomplish both of these objectives by facilitating discourse among graduate students, undergraduate students, post-doctoral researchers, visiting scientists, and faculty interested in microbiological subjects. To this end, we will hold monthly meetings at which interested students will present and discuss their research; organize a yearly symposium; design one seminar course in microbiology per year; maintain a web page which will highlight the diversity of research, courses, seminar series, and classes offered on campus; and, participate in an email listserv dedicated to the discussion of issues pertaining to microbiology at UC Berkeley.
