Kathy Byrne-Bailey

e-mail: kbyrne@nature.berkeley.edu
Curriculum vitae

Kathy is focusing on the molecular elucidation of genes involved in anaerobic benzene degradation in the presence of perchlorate in bacterial strain Dechlormonas aromatica strain RCB via transposon libraries and gene knockouts. She is also working towards a genome sequence of TPSY and other molecular aspects of this novel organism.

Saumyaditya Bose

e-mail: sbose@nature.berkeley.edu
Curriculum vitae
2008 Gordon Conference Abstract

Right now I am working on the biogeochemistry and environmental mineralogy of the bio-oxidation of soluble and insoluble iron(II) coupled to nitrate reduction. I use sterile and anaerobic microbiological techniques, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), oxic and anoxic Powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Spectrophotometric and colorimetric analysis, Ion Chromatography (IC), N2 Surface area analysis (BET) etc for my investigations. I am also interested in the application of X-ray absorption spectromicroscopy (XASM) in the mineral-microbe interface.

Mark Heinnickel

e-mail: heinnickel@nature.berkeley.edu
Curriculum vitae
2007 AGU Abstract

Mark's work is focused on studying the biochemistry of perchlorate reductase. The goal of this work is to use the enzyme to develop a quick, inexpensive, and accurate colorimetric bioassay for perchlorate, a widespread contaminant across the United States.

Administration

Cathy McIntosh

e-mail: cathymc@nature.berkeley.edu

Cathy McIntosh, Lab Manager/Administrator, is responsible for keeping the lab from falling apart! Her duties are numerous and mostly behind the scenes, taking care of all the work that no one else can do.
